Frances Pauline Magowan

Frances Pauline Magowan, age 73, of Rogers Road, Groton, passed away on Saturday evening, July 28, 2012 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. She was born in New London on August 22, 1938 the daughter of William H. and Mary Bloomfield Lynch. Fran was married to Edward W. Magowan, Jr. on October 28th, 1960 in Groton. Besides her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Edward W. Magowan III, Steven and his wife Michele of Groton, two daughters, Patricia (Grant) Magowan of Groton and Linda Dipollino and husband Charles Jr. of Stonington, her grandchildren Sarah and Charles Dipollino III, Kathrine Grant, and David and Colin Magowan, a brother, David Lynch of Amston, CT and best friend of over 60 years, Muriel Sanders. Fran worked at John Hancock Insurance Company until she started a family. She was a stay at home mother and homemaker. She and Ed traveled extensively throughout the United States and Mexico in their motor home. One of her greatest joys was taking care of her animals, horses, chickens, cats, dogs, goats, many of whom were rescues. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her many friends. Attending her grandchildren’s sporting events brought her great pleasure. She will be missed by many. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the nurses and staff of 6.2 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and Hospice Southeastern Connecticut for their loving and compassionate care they provided to Fran. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday evening from 4 until 6 o’clock at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street. Interment will be private. Donations in her memory may be directed to the Connecticut Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375 or the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St, I-91 Tech CTR, Rocky Hill, CT 06067
