Doris Main Griffin, 92, of Shennecossett Rd. in Groton peacefully passed into eternity Tuesday, March 6, 2012. She was born on November 13, 1919 in her home on Fairview Ave. in Groton, daughter of Edna and Steve Main. Doris was a graduate of Fitch Sr. High School in Groton and married Harold Griffin on May 4, 1942. She was a member of Groton Heights Baptist Church where she was a choir member for 60 years. At the church, she was a past President of Ever Ready (a women’s service fellowship), former Sunday School teacher, church Clerk and church Secretary. She retired from Connecticut College where she was a secretarial assistant to the faculty. Doris was very active in the Thames River Quilters and was the “Queen Bee” of the Z-bees. She enjoyed swimming and was a member of the Eastern Point “Beach Ladies”. Doris was an active member in her neighborhood book club and Groton Senior Citizens club. Doris is survived by her three children, Donna Griffin, Gary and Sally Griffin of Millican, TX, Bruce and Leann Griffin of San Diego, CA, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Harold Griffin.

Memorial services will be held at 6:30 pm Fri. Mar. 9 at the Groton Heights Baptist Church, 72 Broad St.
